I used to be very active on h2g2, having signed up a few weeks after time of opening, and I've spasmodically used it ever since, writing several comprehensive entries, and being at various times a subeditor and an an assistant community editor. I met my wife here, and many of my other close friends.
I founded bsrf (better known as blacksun.box.sk) in the late 90s (a history will be appearing on the current site at some point soon, if you're interested) as a place for sharing information about computers and security; bsrf would probably be accurately referred to as a 'hacking site', although the term 'hacking' and 'hacker' both have negative connotations which variously are, and aren't, appropriate. I left bsrf to pursue other things some years ago, but along with some other established and newer bsrf staff members, staged something of a comeback, helping to rejuvenate the site, in 2003, and I remain one of the active staff members. BSRF's focus has shifted in name to the pursuit of services pertaining to 'Information Security' - I would argue that this is a shift in name rather than in dogma; most of us (myself and the current staff included) have never advocated anything illegal.
I also work on several other side projects, for some of which I collaborate with bsrf members and other individuals met through bsrf. I'm also an active participant in many other mailing lists and forums online. I am an active member of fife linux users group, and a not-so-active member of edinburgh linux users group. I'm also a moderator and regular contributor to Security-forums.com, a busy professional security/IT community with over 25,000 registered users.
